THE EFFECTS OF ACID RAIN AND AIR POLLUTION
The effects of acid rain are devastating. Acid rain can effect every living thing on the planet. The most noticeable and possibly life threatening effect is the damage done to trees. The acid in the rain eats away at the tree, it damages the nutrients in the soil that the tree needs to survive, it increases the evaporation rate which leaves the tree without enough water to survive. The most drastic effect is that it leaves the tree dead.

HOW TO STOP ACID RAIN AND AIR POLLUTION
Acid Rain is formed by chemicals being let out into the atmosphere. These chemicals come from car exhausts, fossil fuel burning and any kinds of air pollution. These can all be stopped. The introduction of electric cars would completely cut out the pollution that comes from cars but they are a long way off. For now catalytic converters are used in cars to change the harmful chemicals into non-pollutants. For example they take the oxygen away from Nitrogen Oxide leaving just Nitrogen. The problem of chemicals from factories is a harder one to solve. There is no real solution for this one.

The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is a beautiful and historic building. It is however, as you are reading this disintegrating. The acid in the rain is eating away at the marble which the whole palace is made of. There was an attempt to restore it to its former glory which was very successful but the marble has once again been eroded by the acid rain. There have been many things done to try and preserve the Taj Mahal, including petitions, protests and a plan to put a barrier around it to stop cars getting too close. The Acid Rain is still a big problem though.
